What is A.L.I.V.E.?

A.L.I.V.E. is our weekly youth fellowship gathering on Friday nights. The label A.L.I.V.E. is an acronym for A Lively Inspirational Variety Evening, and was coined by former youth minister Lawrence Chen in 1987. As the youth group grew, we expanded to meet the needs of both middle schoolers and high schoolers by running separate age-specific gatherings in Sr ALIVE (currently led by Pastor Sandy) and Jr ALIVE (currently led by Minister Jennifer Lin). Pastor Sandy is the overall shepherd for the youth and children ministries.

I’ve never come to church before… is it OK for me to go to A.L.I.V.E.?

A.L.I.V.E. is the best entry point for youths new to our church. Where Sundays are focused on large group Bible teaching, worship and sermons, Fridays are focused on small groups, topics and community building. Come and taste Christian faith in action in the midst of peers!

How do I get more involved in this youth group?

All youths are encouraged to exercise their gifts to serve and play significant roles in this church. Some are here to check out what’s going on, some are seeking for growth experiences, some are ready to develop leadership. Find the activities that fit your needs and allow yourself to leap and stretch beyond.

Will there be any cancellations?

Yes, New England snow, blizzards, and icy roads are common every winter. In case of inclement weather or emergency, A.L.I.V.E. and other youth events may be cancelled or postponed. Youth-related cancellations will be posted on this website, and all-church shut downs will be posted on the www.cbcgb.org homepage. The extremely rare Sunday morning cancellation would be announced under the organization name “Chinese Bible Church - Lexington” on all three major TV networks:

Please note that we recommend that parents should exercise their own authority and decision based on perceived safety risks and varying endangering conditions nearer to homes, regardless of any organizational decision to remain open. Youths will be excused of their ministry responsibilities in those special situations. We care about the safety of all our youths.
